CURRICULUM, GROWTH AND PRESENCE
Our first year in review

Partnership with the U.S. FDA Counterfeit Drug Alliance
The Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety is the first physician group providing cosmetic treatments accepted into the U.S. FDA Counterfeit Drug Alliance. The Coalition and other organizations in the Alliance work together to disseminate information, educate consumers, physicians and all health care providers about the risks of counterfeit drugs and devices, and network to protect public health.

Launching our nurse injector curriculum, validating physician supervision
The Coalition held our first curriculum to include nurse injectors and physician’s assistants at The Aesthetic Meeting, May 2008 in San Diego. Read reviews from our first curriculum.

The Curriculum of the Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety is a comprehensive course designed for the physician, nurse and physician’s assistants and provides participants a review and update of cosmetic injectables. Treatment rationale and clinical applications for a variety of botulinum toxin and dermal fillers will be covered. Besides focusing on patient safety, the course will emphasize how these minimally invasive cosmetic options can have a positive economic impact on the plastic surgery practice. Didactic with live demonstrations.

Registered Nurses (R.N.) or Physician’s Assistants (P.A.) registering for the course may only do so with the permission of a board-certified, Coalition member physician.  Completion of the course includes a preceptorship supervised by the employing physician.  The certificate of completion lists both the curriculum participant and the Coalition member physician.

Adding an international partner: ISAPS
The efforts of the Coalition reach beyond U.S. Borders, and now Coalition membership includes the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). In May 2008, ISAPS leadership voted unanimously to join the Coalition and extend our message and mission outside the U.S. Plans include translation of InjectableSafety.org into Spanish as well as International At-A-Glance listings for approved injectables.
